Whenever I look at this girl in the photograph, I realize just how beautiful Afghan women are. But I know that they follow certain laws and I respect that. The girl in the picture is Sharbat Gula, an Afghan girl who was photographed by journalist Steve McCurry in 1984 or 1985 when she was 12.
According the document I read, it was Sharbat's first picture ever taken of her since childhood and it never occurred to her that such photo even exist and her picture was ever popular until she was found again married with three children.
Even in the midst of fear, women's face still shine with hope, love, and beauty.

I've seen this girl in national geographic's greatest discovery...
this girl was lost in war and the photographer searches this girl for almost a decade.
yeah, women's face will still shine....
her eyes are piercing through my soul...so full of questions and courage.
A few years ago, National Geographics Magazine, did a follow up article on this girl of how she looks now.
That is one of my favorite photos. I saw it when I was much younger and just thought she was so beautiful in the midst of so much poverty.
